Walking hockey can be played safely at all ages because no running is allowed and physical contact is not allowed. The sport is for men and women who want to keep moving. The Walking hockey training is accessible, so hockey experience is not necessary. Enthusiastic beginners are also very welcome.
As the name suggests, only walking is allowed. The training starts with an extensive warm-up, followed by various exercises and ends with a game of hockey. Walking hockey is played with a 'normal stick' on a quarter of a (water) artificial grass field. Sticks and balls are available and possibly. also shin guards. It is important that you wear shoes with good grip. At the club there may be a mouthguard for sale at the bar. Of course, safety, first aid, AED and, if necessary, are provided by the club. contact a physiotherapist.
Despite the adjusted rules, Walking hockey resembles 'real hockey' as much as possible and the social aspect is also important: after training, we take plenty of time to have a drink together in our cozy clubhouse.
Training takes place every Thursday morning from 10:30 am to 11:30 am, with the exception of public holidays and two weeks of summer closure. Training takes place on one of the water fields of HC Rotterdam.
It is possible to come and see if this is something for you because the first two training sessions are always free. If you decide to become a member, the costs are € 180.00 per season. This amount can be paid in 3 installments. Membership for Walking hockey can be canceled per term.
